She was predeceased by: her parents, Julian Fossum and Elna Paulson (Anderson); and her stepfather Alvin "Duffy" Paulson. She is survived by: her daughter Jessica (Josh Law); her grandchildren, Avary and Tristen; her son Tony; her daughter-in-law Amy Taylor of Omaha; her grandsons, Jake, Ben, Jon, Caleb and Ezra; her brothers, Charles (Roxanne Fossum), Bill Fossum of Moose Lake and Steven (Julie Fossum); her half-sister Pamela Fossum of Eden Prairie, Minnesota; and her close friend Hank Hayes of Cherokee, Iowa..

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made in Sandy's honor to the Cherokee Public Library.
