He was predeceased by: his parents, John Odilo Lager Sr. and Esther Lager (Pieper); his sister Janice Wolfe (Lager); his brother-in-law Sid Durham; his grandchildren, Ashley, Ona and Coulter Gourley; his nieces and nephews, Annie Just (Brooks), Monica Durham, Michael Durham, Dusty and Afton Spitler; and his great grandchild Wyatt Schmidtke.
He is survived by: his brother-in-law Richard Brooks; his daughter Marcella Brodersen (Lager) of Pleasant Hill, IA; his wife Shirley Ann; his daughters, Melody Lager (Steve Aldrich) of Dows, IA, Margaret Schmidtke (Rick) of Walker, MN, Mary Lager of Clarion, IA, Maurita Gourley (Gene) of Webster City, IA and Milissa Katschke (Don) of Clarion, IA; his nephew Joe Spitler (Karlene); his grandchildren, Aaron Harris (Erin), Kevin (Cindy), Jeff Schmidtke (Melissa), Nicole, Rachel Fletcher (Nate Radke), Jackie Zeiger, Julie Bell (Kenneth Hyland), Joshua Zeiger (Megan), Gabrielle (Royce Nessa), Chandler Gourley (Jordan Jensen), Kelsie and Chloe Brodersen; his sisters, Jean Durham and Elaine Brooks (Rich); and his brother-in-law Don Wolfe. He is also survived by 23 Great Grand Children and 5 Great Great Grand Children.
