It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Karen Symonds of Clear Lake, Iowa, who passed away on September 27, 2025, at the age of 93, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to send flowers or leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Clifford Edwards and Anna Edwards (Ecklin). She is survived by: her children, Diana Symonds of Clear Lake, Gerald Symonds (Jill) of Rockwell, JoAnn Copas of Mason City, Brian Symonds (Tammy) of Clear Lake and Sharon Friest of Plymouth; her grandchildren, Andrew Wick (Dara), Elizabeth Haag (Dave), Quinn Symonds, William Symonds (Rachel), Tony Symonds, Heather Copas, Adrian Copas, Samantha Copas, Matthew Symonds, Mina Symonds, Tiffany Symonds, Travis Symonds, Amanda Wacek (Allen), Kenneth Friest and Jacob Friest; and her brother Gary Edwards (Gayle) of Ames. She is also survived by numerous nieces nephews and friends.
Visitation will be held on Monday, October 6th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Ward Van Slyke Colonial Chapel (310 1st Ave N, Clear Lake, IA 50428). A funeral service will be held on Monday, October 6th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
