He was predeceased by: his parents, Merrill Johnson and Amanda Johnson (Sorenson); his wife Joanna Helene Vermedal; his siblings, Frances Doran (Harold), Amil (Helen Johnson), Wallace Johnson and Floyd A. (Norma Johnson); his brother-in-law Paul Vermedal (Peg); his nephews, Mark Johnson and Terry Vermedal; Karen.
He is survived by: his sibling's children, Randy Johnson (Beth) of Clear Lake, Julie Oltrogge (Stuart) of Clear Lake, Jackie Wilson (Gary Bland), Kathy Hendricks (John) of Clear Lake, Karen Jurgens (Dean) of Thornton, Becky Hall (Tom) of Mason City and Ric Vermedal (Jean) of Plymouth.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 9th 2025 at 9:30 AM at the Major Erickson Funeral Home (111 N Pennsylvania Ave, Mason City, IA 50401). A celebration of life will be held on Thursday, October 9th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location. The inurnment will be held on Thursday, October 9th 2025 at the Lincoln Township Cemetery (11495 265th St, Mason City, IA 50401).
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Trinity Lutheran Church.
