He was predeceased by: his parents, Stephen Butz and Martha Butz (Mitchell); his former wife Erma Steines; his wife Geraldine Clausen; his son Jay Butz; his sister Dorcas Greenslade; his brother-in-law Robert Greenslade; his nephew Del Ray Greenslade; and his sister-in-law Natalie Butz.
He is survived by: his sons, Jan Butz (Robin) of Camanche, IA, Joel Butz of Clinton, IA, Jerry Butz (Julie) of Gallatin, TN and Jon Butz (Tammy) of Camanche, IA; his stepdaughters, Lynn Brandt of Perry, IA, Sheryl, Jacie and Kim Pennock of Clinton, IA; and his brothers, Lester and Steven.
