He was predeceased by: his parents, Edward Ernst and Inez Ernst (Gregor); and his wife Patricia Faye Rickert. He is survived by: his children, Dan Ernst of Oakridge, Joel Ernst of Clinton, Jeff Ernst (Laura) of Clinton, Iowa and Sheryl Ernst of Clinton; his grandchildren, Carl, Sativa, Lance (Demi), Luke, Keli (Tanner), Curtis, Kyle (Liza), Brady (Kortney) and MacKenzie (Ryan); and his great grandchildren, Gracelyn, Aracely and Lennon.
Visitation was held on Thursday, May 8th 2025 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Snell-Zornig Funeral Home & Crematory (302 3rd Ave S, Clinton, IA 52732). A funeral service was held on Friday, May 9th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the First United Methodist Church (621 S 3rd St, Clinton, IA 52732).
