He is survived by: his wife Sandra Van Every; his son Dan Bartels (Sheralyn) of Clinton; his stepsons, Ryan Van Every (Julie) of Des Moines and Josh Van Every (Kaprice) of Adel, IA; his grandchildren, Janine Zantingh (Jordan) of Pella, IA, Elizabeth Knutsen (Ian) of Huxley, IA, Nicole Rittmer of Boston, MA, Matthew Rittmer (Jordan) of Clinton, Rylee Van Every of Des Moines, Matt Montgomery (Melanie) of Des Moines, Kimber Van Every of Adel, Jace Van Every of Adel and Jaxson Van Every of Adel; his great grandchildren, Norah Zantingh, Atticus Knutsen, Ronin Knutsen and Declan Rittmer; and his brother Frederick.
