He was predeceased by: his parents, Valery Costello and Ella Costello (O'Brien); his wife Lorraine Grucela (Lori); and his siblings, Eileen, Jim, Gilbert, Paul and Mike.
He is survived by: his children, Dr. Kathleen Van Buer (Lyle) of Davenport, Dawn Nissen (Randy) of Plover, WI, Brian Costello (Shanistie) of Clinton, Jim Scacco (Pam) of Plainfield, IL and Vicki Rekemeyer (Tim) of Rockford, IL; his grandchildren, Ryan Van Buer (Mary), Chris Van Buer (Laura), Jordan Nissen (Nicole), Troy Nissen (Jessica), Brett Costello (Ashley Powell), Brittany Costello, Jimmy Scacco (Dana) and Gina Schalk (Charlie); his great grandchildren, Ellia, Riley, Anthony, Sarah, Michael, Tyler, Juliaunna, Jeremiah, Daniel, Nathan and Jaden; and his siblings, Marie Leenknecht, Don and Ralph Costello. He is also survived by 4 great-great grandchildren.
