Mary Ellen Woods Obituary

Mary Ellen Woods, 89, of Clinton, Iowa passed away at the Alverno on Thursday, April 24, 2025. Honoring her wishes, cremation rites have been accorded with a Memorial Service taking place at 12 pm on Thursday, May 1st, at Lemke Funeral Homes – South Chapel. A visitation occurs one hour prior from 11 am until the service hour at the Funeral Home. Lemke Funeral Homes is honored to serve the family of Mary Woods during this difficult time.

Mary was born May 30, 1935 in Albany, Illinois the daughter of Jabes and Josephine (Zeeryp) Geerts. She was united in marriage to Harold Woods on March 19, 1966 in Albany, Illinois.

Mary was a homemaker who loved her family dearly. She was also a past member of the Zion Lutheran Church.

Mary enjoyed caring for her family and tending to her flower garden – she loved flowers. She loved her family very much and will be greatly missed.

Mary is survived by her children – Brenda (Roger) Huskey, Dennis Woods and Charles Woods all of Clinton; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; one brother – Paul Geerts of Elwood, Iowa with many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Preceding Mary in death were her parents, husband – Harold, one daughter, one granddaughter, four sisters and three brothers.
