She is survived by: her daughter Cathy Bumann (Eric); her granddaughters, Jessica Bales (Miranda) and Samantha Bales; and her siblings, Shelly Placido, Linda Richards, Leanna Byers (Jim) and Judson Piper (Liz). She is also survived by other loving family members and friends.

Jean dedicated more than 15 years of her career to the Iowa Foundation for Medical Care before retiring in 2018.
