He was predeceased by: his parents, Henry Brandenburg and Gladys Brandenburg (Manning); his wife Janice Brandenburg; and his brothers, William and Robert.

He is survived by: his children, Doug Brandenburg (Cindy) of Clive, IA, Kim Rovane (Paul) of Atoka, TN and Jeanne Moreland of Louisville, KY; his grandchildren, Kyle Brandenburg (Jordan), Katie Schneider (Brett), Aimee Rovane, Amber Weems (Alan), Arieanna Moreland and Jasmine Moreland; and his great grandchildren, Jamison Schneider, Lilli Schneider and Iris Weems.

A memorial has been established to Albany United Methodist Church.
