He was predeceased by: his parents, Jean Berning and Roger Sisler. He is survived by: his children, Megan "Megs" (Oliver Howes), Heidi, Nick (Bethany), Laura (Gustavo Luna) and Julie (Jake Donohue); his wife Heather O'Donnell; his grandsons, Edward and Theodore; his siblings, Diane and Greg; and his siblings-in-law, Beverly, Richard, Deborah, Beth, David and Katie. He is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, nephews, and nieces.
A rosary was held on Friday, July 11th 2025 from 4:30 PM to 5:00 PM at the Calendar St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church (7075 Ashworth Rd, West Des Moines, IA 50266). Visitation was held on Friday, July 11th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the same location. A Mass was held on Saturday, July 12th 2025 from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM at the same location. A graveside service was held on Saturday, July 12th 2025 from 1:00 PM to 1:30 PM.
