He was predeceased by: his parents, Patrick Monaghan and Mary Ellen Monaghan (Casey); his sisters, Kathleen "Kay" Prager and Elizabeth; and his siblings-in-law, Marge Monaghan, Phyllis Sterk, Robert Charles "Chuck" O'Hara, Donald O'Hara and Terry O'Hara.
He is survived by: his former wife Margaret; his children, Christine Monaghan of Chicago, Illinois, Bridget Monaghan of Chicago, Illinois, John (Jessica) of Annapolis and David (Brooke) of Minneapolis, Minnesota.; his siblings, Patrick Dean of Indiana, James, Leo (Diane) of Manchester and Colleen Brenke (Joe) of Dubuque; and his brother-in-law Lee Prager of Schaumburg, Illinois. He is also survived by 11 nieces and nephews.
