He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Norbert Kash and Martha Kash (Hopkins); his siblings, Patrick Kash, Angela Krainik, Anthony Kash, Monica Kash, Meg Lassarat and Rose Cheke; and his nieces and nephews, Elizabeth Fischer, Joni Nightingale, Megan Brue, Kristine Kash, Julia Lassarat, Emily Kash, Charlotte Lassarat, Patrick Cheke, Nicholas Cheke, Zachary Cheke, Harper Nightingale, Brady Nightingale, Kashton Brue, Sebastian Fischer, Vincent Fischer and Gentry Brue.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Saint Mary's Alter Society in Colo, Iowa and the Lion's Club of Colo, Iowa.

“Joe was my classmate at Thunderbird in 1984, and a dear friend of mine. I have been since searching his whereabout through the years only to find him a few days ago, sadly, from his obituary. Joe was one of the kindest men I have ever been associated with. In In December 1984, he took me to his Colorado ranch for the Christmas holiday with his family. Thanks to his and his family's kindness and generosity, I had a most enjoyable and memorable Christmas holiday.. We will always miss you, Joe!”
