We are sad to announce that on March 2, 2020 we had to say goodbye to Rita Chaney (Columbus Junction, Iowa), born in Belleville, Illinois. You can send your sympathy in the guestbook provided and share it with the family.

She was predeceased by: her parents, John Malacarne and Anna "Marie" Malacarne (Nollau); her husband Jerry David Chaney; and her sister Carol Black. She is survived by: her sister Lois Orlet; her sons, John (Barb), Mike (Jacque) and Steve (Teri); and her grandchildren, Jonathan (Abby) of Coralville, Adam (Miranda) of Wapello, Sam of Portland, Ben (Jamie) of Grandview, Sarah, Caitlin (John Kinney) of Muscatine, Jeri Berger (Mike) of Wisconsin, Hannah (Jacob Sutherland), Elizabeth and Joel of Wapello. She is also survived by five great grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the St. Joseph's Altar & Rosary Society in memory of Rita.

“Rita and I had been good friends most of our lives. We met in first grade at St. Henry’s grade school. The last time I saw my dear friend was in September 2019 at her house. We had a wonderful visit. The last time I spoke to her was about a week before she passed. We had many fun times during grade and high school and kept in touch throughout our adult years. May you be at peace with Jesus, Jerry, and your deceased family members. Save a place for me. I love you my forever friend. Love, Rosie.”
