He was predeceased by: his parents, Clarence Alwine and Alice Alwine (McMillin); and his stepmother Ruth Wade Lorack. He is survived by: his wife Rochelle Oehler; his children, Kim Hoffman (Gary), Michael Alwine (Lynn) of Crystal Lake and Ryan Alwine (Sonia Mersch) of St. Paul, MN.; his grandchildren, Devin Alwine, Alex Alwine, Daniel Alwine, Amber Hoffman and Ashley Hoffman; and his sister Marian Brown of Coralville.
Instead of flowers and plants, the family suggests memorials to Friends of the Animal Center Foundation.
