He was predeceased by : his parents, Earl Herbert and Jeanette Herbert (Dodson); and his brother-in-law Jim Garnett. He is survived by : his wife Gwen Herbert of Corning, IA; his children, Lauri Grossman (Dave) of Redmond, WA and Matt Herbert (Tracy) of Shepherd, MI; his grandson Jacob Grossman (Cassady Coulter) of Bellevue, WA; his children, Jamie Grossman of Redmond, WA, Megan Herbert of Mt. Pleasant, MI and Leo Herbert of Shepherd, MI; his sisters, Leona Farris (Bill), Patricia Nagel (Gary) of New Port Richie, FL and Fran Branan (Tim) of Walnut, IA; and his brother-in-law Robert Garnett (Vi) of Missoula, MT. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Corning Community Schools for the Buzz Herbert fund for student mental and physical wellbeing.
