He was predeceased by: his parents, Levi Thompson and Margaret Thompson (Munchrath); his son Timothy Thompson; and his brothers, Richard "Dick" Thompson (Gretchen) and Raymond Thompson.
He is survived by: his wife Sharry Thompson; his sons, Troy (Amy Thompson) and Todd (Jennifer Thompson); his siblings, Mary Lybarger (Joe) and John Thompson (Theresa); his grandchildren, Ashley Quick (Ryan), Claire Hoeft, Conner Thompson, Colby Thompson, Wyatt Thompson and Samuel Thompson; and his great grandchildren, Maria, Noah, Vivian, Ezra, Alaina and Kolbe. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, and cousins; a host of other family and friends.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 25th 2026 from 4:00 PM to 5:30 PM at the Hoy Kilnoski Funeral Home (1221 N 16th St, Council Bluffs, IA 51501). A prayer will be held on Sunday, October 25th 2026 from 5:30 PM to 6:00 PM at the same location. A funeral Mass will be held on Monday, October 26th 2026 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at the Saint Peter's Catholic Church (1 Bluff St, Council Bluffs, IA 51501).
