We are sad to announce that on October 16, 2025, at the age of 71, David Fairbanks of Council Bluffs, Iowa passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his mother Margaret Bauer Fairbanks; his aunt Josephine Hamilton; his mother-in-law Patricia James; and his brother-in-law Troy Ulmer. He is survived by: his father Stanley Fairbanks; his wife Wendy; his daughters, Patricia Fairbanks and Mallory Newman (Russell); his grandchildren, Adelia and David; his son Mike Blackbourn; his grandchildren, Madelyn, Amelia and Archer; his daughter Sarah Kaelin; his siblings, Jon Fairbanks (Bridgette), Joe Fairbanks (Celeste) and Patti Dickerson (Dan); his in-laws, Richard Ulmer (Jean) and Gary James; his siblings-in-law, Stephanie Ainsworth, Stacey Thomas (John), Jason James (Shari), Justin James (Kecia) and Gary Reed (Elizabeth); his siblings' children, Ryan Anderson, Matt Anderson, Tyler Ainsworth, Dillon Ainsworth, Alec Fairbanks, Wyatt James, Quentin James, Corbin Wiggins, Shay Melby, Adelicia Fairbanks, Irelynn James, Jada James, Jennifer Holz, Cheri Hadden (Adam) and Taya Thomas; Ray Lieber.
Visitation was held on Monday, October 20th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Hoy Kilnoski Funeral Home (1221 N 16th St, Council Bluffs, IA 51501). A funeral service was held on Tuesday, October 21st 2025 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the First Christian Church (20794 IA-92, Council Bluffs, IA 51503).
In lieu of flowers, the family will direct memorials in David's honor.
