He was predeceased by: his parents, Wilfred Coenen and Margaret Coenen (Schwery); his former wife Barbara Jane Robertson; and his siblings, Gloria Schmitz, Ivo and Marvin.
He is survived by: his wife Karen Coenen of Council Bluffs; his children, Gary Coenen (Barb) of Creston, IA, Sharon Weidig (Ed) of Roman Forest, TX, Ron Coenen (Jing Jing) of Sharon, MA, Kimberly Vice of Louisville, NE and Carla Olson (Kevin) of Murdock, NE; his stepson Russell Sorbello; his sisters, Victoria Schmitz (Larry) of Westphalia, IA and Twyla Grooms of Columbus, OH; and his siblings-in-law, Carol Coenen of Omaha, NE and Norman Schmitz of Westphalia, IA. He is also survived by 20 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren.
A lunch will follow at the Walnut Hill Reception Center, 1350 E. Pierce St. The family will direct memorial contributions.
