He was predeceased by: his parents, Sherman Schnepel and Freda Schnepel; his stepfather Earl Hartje; and his brothers, Derald Schnepel and Gerald Schnepel.

He is survived by: his wife Phyllis Schnepel; his children, Thomas Schnepel (Lori), Ann Brust (David), Janice Carlson (Doug) and John Schnepel (Dawn); his grandchildren, Brian Schnepel (Carlie), Amanda Brandon (Tate), Benjamin Schnepel, Holly Green (Josh), Eric Mong, Kristina Staab (Matthew), Sara Kraft (Justin), Andrew Carlson (Heather) and Zachary Schnepel (Kahea); and his great grandchildren, Conner, Charlotte Brandon, Landon Horton, Joanna, Charlotte Staab, Augustine, Gianna, Gabriel, Dominic, Isabella Kraft and Alexander Carlson. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Memorials are suggested to Saint Peter's Catholic Church or the Josie Harper Hospice House.
