Gary J. Zimmerman, born on January 9, 1941, passed away on September 19, 2026. Gary leaves behind family members and others who acknowledge this loss. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph Zimmerman and Billie Zimmerman (Stokes); his wife Barbara Ann Tadlock; and his brother Kevin Griffith. He is survived by: his sons, Anthony (Melinda) of Keller, Texas, Michael (Kristi) of Omaha, Nebraska and Timothy (Denise) of Bellevue, Nebraska.; his grandchildren, Amanda Jones (Aaron), Zack Zimmerman (Megan), Hunter Zimmerman (Lexie), Hailee Zimmerman, Dawson, Hanna Wills, Brandon Clapper, Dustin Slottje (Ashley), Linda Slottje and Janet McCoy (Jeff); his great grandchildren, Arlo, Colette, Beckham, Zoe, Elsie and Zachary; and his sisters, Sandra Childers, Christine Davis (Jim) and Terri Lynne Polson. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, September 29th 2026 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Cutler-O'Neill-Meyer-Woodring Funeral Home & Crematory (545 Willow Ave, Council Bluffs, IA 51503). A celebration of life was held on Wednesday, September 30th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the Corpus Christi–queen of Apostles Church (3304 4th Ave, Council Bluffs, IA 51501). A burial was held on Wednesday, September 30th 2026 at 2:30 PM at the Omaha National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests memorials be made in Gary's memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee.
