She was predeceased by: her parents, Matthew Weir and Vivian Weir (McCarty); her husband Chet McKenzie; and her children, Vicki Morrison, Barney and Bill Nelson.

She is survived by: her children, Brad Nelson and Donetta Merksick (Tony) of Council Bluffs; and her daughters-in-law, Belinda and Kathy Nelson. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, 9 great-great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Friday, October 2nd 2026 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Cutler-O'Neill-Meyer-Woodring Funeral Home & Crematory (545 Willow Ave, Council Bluffs, IA 51503). A funeral service will be held on Friday, October 2nd 2026 at 11:00 AM at the same location.

The family will direct memorial contributions.
