Norman Bates Obituary
We are sad to announce that on July 22, 2025, at the age of 92, Norman Bates (Council Bluffs, Iowa) passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Bert Bates and Nellie Bates (Peck); his siblings, Bob, Floyd, Jimmie, Duane, Dickie, Donnie, Evelyn Hunter, Annie Steppuhn, Juanita Graham and Shirley Frizzell; his son John Bates (Carol); his grandchildren, Amanda Echols (Shawn), Meridyth Aragon (Nathan), Kelsey Yoder and Adam Yoder (Cassie); and his great grandchildren, Emery, Jaxon, Camila, Isabella and Imani.
He is survived by: his son Eric; his wife Carole Harlan; his sister Bonnie Allen; and his sisters-in-law, Jeannie Bates and Betty Bates. He is also survived by cousins, nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, July 26th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Hoy Kilnoski Funeral Home (1221 N 16th St, Council Bluffs, IA 51501). A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 26th 2025 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the same location.
Memorials may be directed to First Christian Church and/or Treynor Fire and Rescue.
