He is survived by: his wife Tina Thorne (Weipert); his children, Nikki Watkins (Trace), Scott Thorne, Cassandra Grimm (Jacob), James Thorne and Levi Gihring; his grandchildren, Joshua, Kendall, Mason, Anastasia, Lyle and Ellieanna; and his siblings, Terry Thorne (Joyce), Deb Thorne, Robert Thorne (Tina), Sonia Evans (Will) and David C Weipert. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, September 8th 2026 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM and on Wednesday, September 9th 2026 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. A funeral service was held on Wednesday, September 9th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the First Congregational Church (130 3rd Ave E, Cresco, IA 52136).
