He was predeceased by: his parents, Walter Monroe Von Stein and Eleanor Rose Von Stein (Anderson); his wife Ellen Mae McFee; his son Bob Von Stein; his siblings, Joann, Leon Von Stein (Joan) and Dean Von Stein (Cheryl); his daughter-in-law Sheila Von Stein; and his brother-in-law Ed Zelenksy.
He is survived by: his children, Teresa Von Stein-Hon of Altoona, Carrie Stevens of Creston, Ken Von Stein of Des Moines and Scott Von Stein of Des Moines; and his siblings, Steve Von Stein (Marlys) of Bondurant, Jeane Zelensky of Scottsdale and Jery Brumley (Homer) of Warsaw, Missouri.. He is also survived by ten grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren.
