The passing of Donald Butler of Creston, Iowa, born in Charles City, Iowa leaves a void in the hearts of many, as we bid farewell to a loving soul who departed on April 21, 2024 at the age of 90. He was predeceased by : his parents, Leonard Butler and Zella Butler (Grandy); his wife Beverly Ann Mincey (Ruhde); his daughter Crystal Butler; his father-in-law Herman Ruhde (Bertha); his niece JoAnn Butler; and his uncle Virgil Grandy (Lillian).

He is survived by : his son Mark Butler of Des Moines; his granddaughter Nicole Ott of Creston; his great grandchildren, Kaylee Ott of Creston and Keara Ott of Sharpsburg; his nieces and nephews, Jill Miller, Emily Watson, Aaron Ruhde, Mark Phelps, David Phelps, Elaine Kapek and Mike Butler; and his siblings-in-law, Craig Rudhe (Carol) of Texas and Shirley Phelps of Bayard. He is also survived by many great-nieces and nephews; and other extended family and many cherished friends.

Visitation was held on Friday, April 26th 2024 from 2:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Powers Funeral Home - Creston (601 New York Ave, Creston, IA 50801). A celebration of life was held on Saturday, April 27th 2024 at 10:30 AM at the Salem Lutheran Church (602 W Townline St, Creston, IA 50801).

In lieu of flowers, memorials are to the Salem Lutheran Church and Dollars for Scholars in Don's name.
