He was predeceased by: his parents, Cyril Celestine and Maude Agnes Novak (Kessler); his wife LaRetta LaVaun Brown; his daughter Katherine Thomas; and his brothers, Robert and LaVerne Novak.
He is survived by: his children, Georgia Walter (Hillman) of Wilber, NE, James Novak (Felicia) of Tingley, IA, Susan Stein (Joel) of Eagle Grove, IA, Jerry Novak (Tyann) of Creston, IA and Jackie Novak (Mamie) of Creston; and his grandchildren, Jessica Placek, Tristan Novak, Jamie Storhoff, Joy Stein Van Houten, Katie Barker, Lisa Wiblin, Christopher Novak, Amber Scharf, Mariah Gray, Tony Markowski, Marcus Jones, Rhonda Russell, Crystal Ray, Rodney Deal, Tiffany Larson and Larry Key. He is also survived by 17 great-grandchildren and 12 great-great-grandchildren.
