She was predeceased by: her parents, Nathaniel McGinnis and Earnsten McGinnis (Shumake); and her brother Nathaniel McGinnis, Jr.. She is survived by: her children, Christopher McGinnis of Creston, Rochell McGinnis (Tamara) of Chicago, Illinois and Latanya McGinnis (Nevarro) of Greenwood, Indiana; and her siblings, Edward McGinnis of Belzoni, Mississippi, Gloria McGinnis of Milwaukee, Deloris Redmond (Lee) of Chicago and Brenda Chapman (Ollie) of Belzoni, Mississippi. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and many other extending family members.
