It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Kathleen Tapken of Creston, Iowa, born in Omaha, Nebraska, who passed away on July 27, 2025, at the age of 82, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Vincent McCann and Eileen McCann; her in-laws, George and Theresa Tapken; her siblings-in-law, Bev McCann and George Kordick; and her niece Angela McCann Sheila Palubicki.
She is survived by: her grandchildren, Chelsea Diepenbrock (Tony), Cody Tapken (Courtney), Aidan Honkomp and Jocelyn Honkomp; her great grandchild Nico Diepenbrock; her husband John Tapken of Creston, Iowa; her children, Doug Tapken (Judy) of Ozark, Lisa Tapken of Camden, Laura Tapken of Urbandale, Stacia Tapken (Inmar Ochoa) and Eddie Klingensmith (Janna) of Ankeny, Iowa; and her brothers, Mike McCann of Austin and Kirk McCann (Lila) of Creston, Iowa. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 30th 2025 from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Pearson Family Funeral Service & Cremation Center - Creston (809 W Montgomery St, Creston, IA 50801). A rosary will be held on Wednesday, July 30th 2025 at 7:00 PM at the same location. A Mass will be held on Thursday, July 31st 2025 at 10:30 AM at the Holy Spirit Catholic Church (107 W Howard St, Creston, IA 50801). A burial will be held on Thursday, July 31st 2025 at the Creston Calvary Cemetery (1419 170th St, Creston, IA 50801).
