As Melba departs from our midst, her spirit ascends to join the cosmic dance of stars, a shimmering constellation of memories that will forever grace the night sky of the hearts of those who loved Melba. Though Melba may no longer walk beside us, her legacy lives on — a testament to the enduring power of love to transcend the boundaries of time and space.
She was predeceased by: her parents, William Emmet Woosley and Marie Viola Woosley (Hoffman); her husband Lester J. Akers; and her sisters, Freda Tinker (LeRoy), Jeraldine Scherer (Kenny) and Joan Goodale (Bill).
She is survived by: her children, Ted Akers (Kim) of Clarksville, Jeff Akers of Creston, Don Akers (Lisa) of Shannon City and Jean Travis (Dave) of Creston; and her sister Shirley Ide (Richard) of Shannon City. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and many other extended family members and friends.
Visitation was held on Saturday, May 9th 2026 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the United Methodist Church (400 N Elm St, Creston, IA 50801). A memorial service was held on Saturday, May 9th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
