He was predeceased by: his parents, Thelma B. Cooper (Benson) and Elzie L. Cooper; his former wife Janice Cooper; his children, Gary Cooper and Debra Duff; his son-in-law Nate Doolin; his grandson Brad Lemon; and his siblings, Richard Cooper and Carolyn Landis.
He is survived by: his wife Joyce Cooper (Nickerson) of Creston; his children, Penny Doolin of Des Moines, Julie Levine (Gary) of Anthem, Ariz., Mark Squires (Ginger) of Creston and Terry Cooper (Amy) of St. Charles, Iowa; and his siblings, Joane Meeves of Dunlap, Iowa and Ron Cooper (Judy) of Denver. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren: 16 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are kindly suggested for an, activities project at the Mount Ayr Health Care Center or the Creston United Methodist Church.
