He is survived by: his former wives, Becky Bickett and Joan Schlapia; his pets, Lucy, Walter, Ricky and Maggie; his son Matt; his cousin Rich Downing; his son Sam; his brothers, Chris Barrans, Ed Miller, Butch Conley, Bill Nook, Buzz, Mark Barrans and Dan Miller; his wife Cathy Woods (Merboth) of Creston; his parents-in-law, Warren and Marlene Merboth of Creston; his brother-in-law Mike Merboth (Janie) of Orient; and his grandchildren, Hope Woods, Hannah Woods, Kaelynn Quam, Kaydee Quam, Paige Hoffmann and Lola Cordell.
