It is with great sadness that we announce the death of George Joseph Townsend of Danville, Iowa, born in Burlington, Iowa, who passed away on April 24, 2022, at the age of 79, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, George William Townsend and Josephine Townsend Kerr (Woodruff); his parents-in-law, Vonda Long and Keith Long; and his stepfather Harley Kerr.
He is survived by: his wife Sheila Kay Long of Ottumwa, Iowa.; his son Brent Townsend (Ontario) of Toronto; his grandson William Townsend (Ontario) of Toronto; his sister Ann Allen of Delray Beach, Florida; and his siblings-in-law, Mike Long (Shirley) of Mt. Pleasant and Susan Koger of Burlington, Iowa. He is also survived by nieces and nephews; great-nieces and nephews; cousins and wonderful friends and neighbors.
Memorials have been established for the Danville Community School Foundation, the Danville Library and Museum, and Southeast Iowa Regional Hospice.
