He was predeceased by: his parents, Harold Helmers and Ellavene Helmers (Shipler); and his siblings, Denny, George, Marsha Kerns and Katie "Kay" Evans.
He is survived by: his son Mike P. Helmers; his grandson Craig R. Helmers; his siblings, Judy Sinkler (Brian S.), Pam Evans (John E.) and Dean Helmers (Lillian H.); and his close friend Carlos Olvera. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital, American Cancer Society, or Christ Church Davenport.
