He was predeceased by: his parents, George Young and Margaret Young (Goucher); his wife Beverly Young; his siblings, Georgie, Muriel, Catherine, Edna, Ermadean, Cecil, Dick, Clifford and George; and his great grandchild Chelsea Fey.

He is survived by: his daughters, Sandra Nelson (Robert) of Davenport, IA and Carolyn Nosa of Davenport, IA; his grandchildren, Jennifer Fey (Don Ogden), Brian Nelson (Laura), Deven Nosa (April) and Brett Nosa (Melissa McGivern); and his great grandchildren, Colton Nelson (Angela Johnson), Madeline Nelson, Emily Nelson (Andres Sancen), Caleb, Jacob Fey, Dustin Toler, Rilynn, Stormie, Cole, Bronx Nosa, Christian, Bryson Nosa and Destiny McGivern.

Memorials may be made in his honor to the Dementia Society of America.
