“Dear Mrs. Patten and family, I have just now learned of Mr. Patten's passing. I am so sorry for your loss. Although I never have had the pleasure of meeting any of you, my father Roger Hathaway, often spoke of Mr. Patten with great fondness. My father passed in May of 2018. Earlier this week as I was sorting through some of the papers and pictures that my father still had, there was a picture of Mr. Patten and my father taken during the time they served together in Korea. Again, please accept my sincere sympathy. Mr. Patten and his family have touched countless lives and the legacy that will continue, speaks volumes about a man that was a shining example of the "Greatest Generation".
