He was predeceased by: his mother Dorothy Smith; his wife Sandra E. Kirkpatrick; and his sister-in-law Ardis Rettler (Jerome). He is survived by: his children, Julie Thompson (David) and Brian Smith (Kerry); his brother Lester Leonard (Carol); and his brother-in-law Roger Kirkpatrick (Janet). He is also survived by many nephews, nieces and lifelong friends.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, November 13th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Runge Mortuary and Crematory (838 E Kimberly Rd, Davenport, IA 52807). A funeral service will be held on Thursday, November 13th 2025 at 12:00 PM at the same location. A committal service will be held on Thursday, November 13th 2025 from 12:30 PM to 1:00 PM at the Davenport Memorial Park (1022 E 39th St, Davenport, IA 52807).
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Scott County Humane Society in Mike's name.
