He was predeceased by: his parents, Ernest Wieman and Beatrice Wieman (Christensen); his wife Delores Gandy; and his daughter Karen Bednar. He is survived by: his daughter Cindi; his son-in-law Jim Zahniser of Davenport; his grandchildren, Lindsey Tippery (Adam), Bryan Olsen, Kristi Robinson (Donavan) and Ben Zahniser (Christina); his great grandchildren, Bjorn, Augustin, Kai, Evangelina Tippery, Alia, Miles, Sophia Robinson, Nathanial and Elliot Zahniser; his son-in-law Mark Bednar (Dawn); and his close friend Jim Bergman (Kim).
