He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph J. Smahaj and Catherine Smahaj; and his sister Cathy. He is survived by: his children, Amy Warren (Danny) of Aledo, IL., Mirranda Hernandez (Steve) of Rock Island, IL and Thomas Hammill (Dana) of Davenport, IA; his grandchildren, Haley Jennings, Lauren Hernandez, Blake White, Austin Kirkpatrick, Issabelle Whitcomb, Trenton Rhodenbaugh, Kiefer and Kyler Hammill; his great grandchildren, Kayiden, LillyAnna, Layla and Dax; and his siblings, Sandy Furlow, Joe Smahaj (Sherry) and John Smahaj (Mary).

Memorials may be made to Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House.
