He was predeceased by: his father Eugene Johnson; his daughter Crystal Newman; and his siblings, Gary and Virginia. He is survived by: his mother Mary Johnson (Schloemer); his wife Jerilyn Wilson; his children, Grady, Emerald and Tessa Karwath (Alex); his grandchildren, Tarique and Naseem Newman; and his siblings, Robert (Lori), Brian, Paul, John (Diana), Gloria Wrage, Cathy, Teresa Sprout (Harland) and Joanie Smith (Steve). He is also survived by his nieces and nephews, friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Newcomb Presbyterian Church or the Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center at University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics.
