He was predeceased by: his parents, William Powell and Janan Powell (Barney); his grandparents, Marcus Dean Powell and Leola Mae Scheffler; his great-uncle Lee Roy Scheffler; and his siblings, Sandy Swanson, Tracy Arborgast and Rick Powell.

He is survived by: his wife Vicky Powell; his children, Michael Powell and Martina Nicol (Matthew); his grandsons, Wyatt Nicol and Cooper Nicol; his aunts, Marlene Petersen and Carol Awes; his cousins, Suzie Ethridge, Karen Miklas and Mike Tibodaux; and his pets, Lucy, Leavi and Fanny. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be made in his name to the Davenport Humane Society.
