He is survived by: his children, Perry Halse (Tom Mathiasen) of Decorah, Lisa Bruening (Paul) of Decorah, Lynne Rilling (Donnie) of Decorah and Daniel Halse (Julie) of Alexandria, Virginia.; his grandchildren, Justin Rilling (Jessica), Jessica Drenth (Samuel), Morgan Rilling Schewe (Kurt), Daniel Joseph Halse Jr., Devin Bruening (Miranda), Mackenzie Halse, Courtney Blodgett (Jared), Alexandra Halse (Mhari), Lucas Halse and Shannon White (Shane); his brother Philip Halse (Evelyn) of Decorah; and his brothers-in-law, Robert Herold (Jerry) and Cletus Herold (Reva) of Des Moines, Iowa..
