Gerald Johnson Obituary
We are sad to announce that on September 26, 2025, at the age of 88, Gerald Johnson of Decorah, Iowa passed away. Family and friends are welcome to send flowers or leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Ernest Clifford and Stella Mae Johnson (Newhouse); his grandparents, Albert, Myrtle Newhouse (Casterton), Anna Johnson (Kolseth) and John; his brother James Johnson; his in-laws, Viola and Clair Palmer; and his sisters-in-law, Jan Johnson, Lois (Richard Matter), Diane Palmer and Sharon (Roman Hageman).
He is survived by: his wife Linda Spry (Palmer); his stepdaughter Jennifer Spry-Knutson (Tony Edwards); his stepgrandchildren, Kaylee Miller (Javonte) and Kole Knutson; his stepson Christopher Spry (Kari Mensink); his children, Codey Hayek, Cavan Spry, Dylan Spry and Teigan Spry; his sister Myrna McNatt (Dobbin) of Madison, WI.; and his siblings-in-law, Mary Ellen Farley (Paul), Dorothy Palmer, James Palmer (Alice), Harlan Palmer and Kevin Palmer (Shirley Phinney). He is also survived by 4 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 11th 2025 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Washington Prairie Lutheran Church (1725 Washington Prairie Rd, Decorah, IA 52101). A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 11th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
