With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Karen Erion of Decorah, Iowa, born in New Hampton, Iowa, who passed away on February 17, 2023 at the age of 68. Family and friends are welcome to send flowers or leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Dale Gates and Elaine Gates; her stepmother Ramona Gates; and her siblings-in-law, Orlo and Delors Erion.
She is survived by: her husband Randy Erion; her daughters, Abby Erion (Dave Freund) of Robins and Lainey Kamrath (Brad) of Seattle, WA; her siblings, Susan Gates of North Liberty, John Gates (Mary) of Cedar Rapids, Lisa Wilson (Robert) of Marion and Kim Hopp (Lynn) of New Hampton; her close friends, Mike and Marcy Erickson of Decorah; Andy Erickson (Laura) of Urbandale. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
She volunteered with RSVP (Retired and Senior Volunteer Program) and St. Benedict Catholic Church making layettes, kid dresses, distributing blood drive posters around town, and delivering meals to those in need.
