He was predeceased by: his parents, James Alberts and Imelda Alberts (Sutton); his wife Debra Alberts; his brother Daniel Alberts; and his grandparents, Irene, Freeman Alberts, Lawrence and Grace Sutton.
He is survived by: his children, James Alberts of Decorah and Julia Alberts of Mankato, MN; his siblings, Michael (Beth) of Albuquerque, NM, Patrick (Sandy) of Lansing, IA, Timothy (Jenean) of Lansing, IA, Eugene (Suzanne) of Onalaska, WI and Rebecca of Decorah, IA; and his aunt Dorothy Sunday of Decorah. He is also survived by five nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 7th 2026 from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Helms Funeral Home (306 E Water St, Decorah, IA 52101). The military honors will be held on Saturday, November 7th 2026 at 1:15 PM at the same location. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, November 7th 2026 at the Silvercrest Country Club (2772 College Dr, Decorah, IA 52101).
