He was predeceased by: his parents, Thomas Haugen and Evelyn Haugen. He is survived by: his wife Lola Haugen; his children, Todd Haugen and Kari Dostalik (Marty); his grandchildren, Adam Dostalik and Haley Dostalik; and his siblings, Donna Bahr, Judy Nelson, Jerry Haugen and Dave Haugen. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Monday, October 12th 2026 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the First Lutheran Church (604 W Broadway St, Decorah, IA 52101). A memorial service will be held on Monday, October 12th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
