He is survived by: his wife Carol Blanchard of Denver; his children, Sarah Sanderson (John) of Waterloo and Derek Blanchard of New Berlin, Wisconsin; his granddaughters, Anna, Nora and Alaina Sanderson; and his sister Peggy Beard of Waterloo.
