He was predeceased by: his grandmother Ruby Knox (Larry Knox); and his great-uncle James Pete Payne. He is survived by: his parents, Dr. Darrell Smith Sr. and Brendolyn Smiley; his siblings, Tomeeka Walton, Alexandria Deever (Jeremiah), Darrell Smith Jr. (Angie), Symphone Davis, Charr'e Neal and DJ Tolland; his grandparents, Willie Walton and Katherine Neal Johnson (California); and his pets, Smokie and Sonny. He is also survived by many uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Visitation was held on Saturday, September 12th 2026 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM and from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the Hamilton's Funeral Home (605 Lyon St, Des Moines, IA 50309).
