He was predeceased by: his former wife Sharon Cooley; his daughter Deborah Jenkins; his parents, Edward Cooley and Anna Cooley; his former wife Kathy Cooley; and his siblings, JoAnne Blanchard and Wayne Cooley.
He is survived by: his wife Grace Cooley; his children, Donna Jones and Jamie Schoop (Molly); his stepdaughter Chelsea Sales (Eric); his grandchildren, Brad Nelson (Molly), Greg Cooley (Amy), Corey Cooley (Dejae), Stephen Jones (Jamie Casner), Ashley Jones, Grant McNeeley, Donna McNeeley, Amanda Schoop and Edward Schoop (Eddie); his stepgranddaughter Lilianne Sales; and his siblings, Beverly Johnson (Ray), Penni Cooley (LB) and Larry Cooley. He is also survived by 11 great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be given in his name to the Indianola American Legion Post # 165.
